People I love, part 1

I've been thinking for a while now, how blessed I am by the people in my life. And I try and count my blessings often, and tell the people that I love how much I love them. But if only I had another way to tell them....

Et voilá, this series was born. A series of posts about the wonderful people in my life who I love and who I'm lucky enough to call mum / sister / brother / father / friend / boyfriend / blog buddy...

But where to start?

With my hilarious Marmee? With my wonderful boyfriend? With one of my awesome girlfriends? And then, through the fogs of thought, one name made itself clear, and I just *knew* who I was going to kick this little lovefest off with.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Mlle Wilson.

Mlle Wilson and I have been friends for almost 5 years, since rooming together in Durham as part of the Gilesgate 3 (mad shout out to Jeaaaaan, the third of our trio, and a victim / target / much beloved member of these posts before too long herself :-)). Mlle Wilson was studying for her MA, I for my PGCE. We bonded pretty much instantly over quoted lyrics, silly antics, rollwalling and hours upon hours of chats over cups of tea or glasses of wine. And the occasional bet involving a tub of ice cream.

And why do I love her so much, I hear you question? Well....

She's kind and thoughtful and giving. She's seriously clever - she reads books that I can't even fathom the blurb to. The girl can dress, and shop, and style like you would not believe. She's delightfully silly, which compliments her wisdom and style perfectly, making her even more perfect than if she was just a clever, pretty, stylish thing. Because she funny too. :-)

I love that she's mildly obsessed with Oprah, and that she and I can talk and obsess over really silly things. I love that she cooks, and she's good at it, and she's always trying out new things. I love that the girl can knit very well, and that she knows me well enough to include a note with the kickass tea cosey she made me for Christmas instructing me *not* to try and wear it as a hat.

I'm loving seeing her with a boy who deserves her, a boy who gets how amazing she really is. I love that she salsa dances divinely....but I also know that the girl will have my back when it comes to Hammer dancing at my wedding (if and when I ever get married). I love that she and I can chat for hours about....nothing, but having such fun that the tears are literally streaming down our faces. I love how beautiful Mlle Wilson makes her life, and the beauty that she gives to the lives of others.

So, Mlle Wilson, I love you. Thank you for the myriad blessings you have brought into my world with your amazing spirit and your beautiful heart. Thank you for the gales of laughter, for helping me when the skies were grey, thank you for believing in me even when I didn't. I am so so blessed to have you in my life, and I hope you always know this. You are truly like a sister to me, and I wish absolutely nothing but the best for you, darling girl.

Witness the fitness!

Love,
Cxx

  8. This is a cool post. To be honest, I don't think I could write one like this about a real life friend. I don't think I've ever allowed anyone (apart from lovers) to get that close. I think I've lost out.
