Farewell, January

Was it just me or was that January especially lengthy?

Let's face it, it's rarely the nicest month, but this year seemed especially harsh. I think the Arctic winter we've been "enjoying" here in the UK may have been a contributing factor. As were my attempts to be frugal (totally worth it, btw. Guess who pain off her credit cards entirely yesterday? :-) Until the next holiday, at least, I should do okay! All the beans on toast dinners and tap waters in the pub were totally worth it now!). And my attempts to start shedding a few pounds (5 down this month...if I can keep up that pace all year I would be a very happy bunny!) definitely made the month feel especially harsh - going to the gym and eating salad is hard when all you want to do is hibernate!

January finished with a treat though, as Matthew whisked me away to Manchester for a weekend of luxury - my Christmas present. It was such fun to get away from London and work and stress for a couple of days and just have some "us" time. A fair few big chats were had, as well as lots of cuddles. We also met up with a few of Matthew's favourite friends, who I'd never met, who were tremendous fun. We ate and drank and were merry, and managed to have quite a lot of our food and drink for free due to poor service or subpar food that had to be replaced... Financial win!

A lovely weekend, and I feel thoroughly replenished. Which is lucky because today has kicked my butt! My Monday's are always tough, but today has been a doozie - am looking forward to putting my feet up and watching some 'Glee' later.

So, what are your plans for February, friends?

I'm looking forward to visits to Brackley, Dublin (Matthew's Christmas gift from me) and the North-East; have another busy month at work; want to catch up with loads of ace folk; and am going to be continuing the healthkick attempts.

How about you?

  1. It's weird that your Monday is almost over and mine is just beginning!

As for February I'm taking some major time off from work - on purpose! I will post about it soon but it is leaving me with some many possibilities!

  3. It's not just you - that month seemed to go on FOREVER - even longer than it normally does! My plans for February include valentines for my siblings and dessert for me and Mr. RK!

  5. My January was awesome.

February looks all set to be even better.

I dread to think what March holds in store.

  6. LOL I like your typo. You wrote "pain" off her credit cards. It probably hurt, but you're happy about it in the end. :)

January is a long month, I agree.

February is all about me turning a certain number that will not be mentioned. There will be a trip to the Rat, a party in the T dot, and I'm buying an iPhone.

Thank you for your comment - I do read them all but it may take me a little while (a couple of days) to respond during busy times. I love reading what you have to say!

Have a wonderful day!
