A quick snapshot from the NYE party. Our dear friends James and Laura had a wonderful get-together at their flat, complete with yummy cocktails, great company, games, karaoke, and gallons of silliness. It was such a great night! We also had James and Laura join us for New Year's Night supper - pies and peas and darts!
My dear sweet laptop completely broke, first thing on January 2nd. I actually got a little weepy - is that wrong? I loved that little piece of kit - I wrote most of this blog on it, it's where I sent the first few emails and messages to that cute boy I met in Edinburgh.... It's entirely kaput, but Matthew in his huge cleverness has been able to recover any music, docs and photos that weren't backed up! Thank you, baby!
Laura and James have the most amazing view across the city. I love the lights of Canary Wharf - always seems pretty glamorous to this smalltown girl!
It's been lovely to have so much time to relax and play and snuggle with the katzen. Poppet is such a sweet girl!
I noticed when looking back over the years that I tend to sag a little bit in the darker months - I feel lower and more stressed and tired. So I've bought myself a little SAD lamp, to see if this might help. More on this later in the month once I've given it a little time :)
More of Laura and James' fantastic view. That bright light in the distance is the fireworks display at the London Eye! We could see it all clear as day, but my iPhone wasn't up to recording it so well!
Leela is such a camera hog now. She looooooves my phone - the minute it comes out she starts purring and head dooshing it!
She also likes sitting in waste paper bins.
Fry gets lots of love (he is a snuggly, huggly boy who loves giving us purrs and friendlehs!), but his jet black fur makes it harder to snap him. He's a delight, just beautiful.

Ouch sorry about your laptop - yikes!! Please let us know how the SAD lamp works for you - I am seriously thinking of getting one as well.
ReplyDeleteSo far so good - will definitely be posting about it after a few weeks of regular use. :)
DeleteOh no! I would have been a little tearful over my laptop!
ReplyDeleteYour friend's view is really amazing.
I'm relieved to hear it's not just me! Love that view.
DeleteHooray for clever partners who can recover data! I've had Mr. RK bail me out on more than one occasion. I have sewing lightbulbs in our lamps - you can get them at any fabric store - they're the same as a lightbox and work wonders!
ReplyDeleteHooray indeed! Thank you for the top tip on the lightbulbs.
DeleteSorry to hear about your laptop...and yes, it would make me cry if I couldn't get online. The internet has become a big part of our lives.
ReplyDeleteLove the kitty pics and the city view, too!
Happy Wednesday!!
Happy Thursday! :)
DeleteThank goodness you were able to get your stuff from the laptop! I always go into panic mode when mine breaks but thankfully it has yet to actually bite the dust!
ReplyDeleteFew things invite panic in my heart more speedily than a tech fail!
DeleteSo glad you did not lose the data - we've got a SAD lamp and dawn simulator lamp. I think they might be working but I'm going to keep giving it time. :) Would love to hear what you think.
