Coffee & Fondue

One of the nice things about living in a city like London is that there's always somewhere to go, something to do, and someone to hang out with.  I adore the countryside and the chance to get out and about in the fresh air, but the city has its charms too!

Last week was a case in point.  I was sat ar home Wednesday night thinking I'd quite enjoy some fondue.  Now, as Matthew doesn't like cheese, fondue is something I can only ever enjoy with friends (Matthew is excellent company for Mexican and Indian food, however - boy has mad menu skills!).  And what should my lovely friend Dan post on facebook that very moment but 'Who fancies some fondue tomorrow?'.  Within  minutes plans had been laid for a bunch of us to go on a quest for fondue Thursday.  Even better, the lovely Rory and Eileen were able to make it too - I'm their bridesmaid in a couple of months but we hadn't caught up in ages!  Eileen and I agreed to meet for coffee at Brick Lane Coffee, then head off to Walluc to meet the others for fondue.

The fondue was delicious - Eileen, Dan and I split a dish of the gorgonzola.  Thick, gloppy, gorgeous cheese with breads and meats galore for dipping.  And pickles!  I love pickles.  Needless to say, while I've been eating pretty healthily recently, for this meal the bets were off.

The coffee at BLC was okay.  The shop is super cute and hipster, but the service wasn't great - they blast loud rap music, making it hard to hear when orders are up....so I ended up with a rather chilled latte, ha!  Nice enough place, and very Shoreditch - maybe I'm getting too old for this (kind of) shop?  I'll no doubt give it another try sometime (I do love coffee!).

Snapped this picture at BLC - my old swimming pool at home had this sign!

Sweet friends Dan and Eileen!  Thank you for arranging the evening, sir!

Some of the Swiss style decor at Walluc.

Do you enjoy fondue?  I love cheese and chocolate fondue, but the oil based one terrifies my accident prone self!  I was intrigued to read over on Megan's blog that Scentsy now do fondue sets....that is something I definitely need to investigate!

Thank you for your comment - I do read them all but it may take me a little while (a couple of days) to respond during busy times. I love reading what you have to say!

Have a wonderful day!
