Happy Monday/Ten Happy Things #15

It's Monday, it's the start of the week, and I'm joining up as ever with Katy and Jasmin for a lovely, positive start to the week. Let's go!

1. A cosy weekend

Lovely, tasty meals, good wine and chats

Poppet loves using me as a cushion/vantage point

Really enjoyed catching 'Addams Family Values' yesterday on Channel 4. I'm a total wuss so horror movies are off the table for me, so spooky family/kids films like The Addams Family ones or Hocus Pocus are as scary as it gets!

Around this point of the year, when the fireworks for Diwali and Guy Fawkes' Night are having their usual fortnight of loud bangs and flashes, we always book a couple of home weekends so we can be around for the katzen. As fun as travelling and socialising are, it's also nice to hibernate a little too. Good, wholesome food, lashings of red wine, napping and kitty cuddles...I feel replenished and ready for a busy week!

2. Side Show

Last Monday Shona and I went along to the Southwark Playhouse to see Side Show and it was really, really good. It's a musical I've enjoyed on CD for the longest time while never having seen it, and I loved the staging of it. If you like moving, beautifully performed musicals, I'd heartily recommend this production!

3. Twitter

I know it can get a bad rap (trolls, wars, drama), but so help me, I do enjoy tweeting. There's something about the platform that just works for me, and I love that whatever you feel like chatting about, there will be a tribe for you.

4. Maddie and Tae

So lucky to have a friend like Shona to gig with!

So good!

On Wednesday Shona and I had another culture date, popping over to Islington Assembly Hall to watch a gig featuring Maddie & Tae. Having seen them do so well at Country 2 Country, we were excited to see them again, and it was an excellent gig. I'm excited for their second album!

5. Haircut o'clock

Finally (three weeks late!) got my hair snipped. Love having lighter, happier hair!

6. New phone!

Last week I did my sums and worked out I'd finally saved enough to get myself a new phone. I now have an iPhone 6 with ALL THE STORAGE which means I can snap, tweet and chat to my hearts content. I'm back on Snapchat (cmclaire12) and am experiencing the joy of having Netflix on my phone for the first time (my last phone was so small I had to delete photos before taking more....extra apps were not happening).

7. Reading

Books + coffee + time = a happy Claire!

Don't you just love charging through the reading pile on cool autumn evenings? Even better with a cup of tea, a blanket, and a cat!

8. Homebody life

It was National Black Cat day. So of course I broke out the appropriate napkins!

This wee one has been my shadow lately. She hates fireworks so late Oct/early Nov is all about staying close to her hoomans.

I really struggled with Lush for the longest time - going in gave me such a headache! Now, however, I can happily pop in for five to ten minutes with no ill effects, so I picked up some goodies :)

Boxes. Always boxes.

I'm just really digging our little nest at the moment. November will be all about the tidying and sorting, ahead of the Christmas festivities. I'm also enjoying lots of naps, baths, and general cosy loveliness!

9. Nearly November

I don't get overly Christmassy here on the blog until November. Brace yourselves....

10. Brunches and lunches

Matthew and I both chose this beer on our date - such happy honeymoon memories with this little splash of Hawaii!

Snickers milkshake. OMG.

Totally delicious. Totally couldn't finish.

Dessert to go, anyone?

I love when the diary means I can catch up with people, and there's been plenty of that over the last week. So fun to hear people's news and to plan and chat, whether out and about or cosy in someone's house. Lucky to have the network I do! Yesterday Matthew and I went for a superb meal at The Diner - a lunch so good we didn't need supper!

So that's my little happies - how about you?

Oh, and a happy Halloween to those who celebrate - may your treats be many and your tricks be few. Have fun!

  1. Agree with the Lush headaches. Same as the perfume counter in any department store. I run past madly waving my arms in the air yelling no no no samples no!

  2. I've read previously people can't take being in Lush for a long period of time. The fireworks have been crazy around my way this weekend but it's been nice to see them come the evening.
