USA: Five places I've loved, and five I want to try (inspired by Trek America!)

Earlier this month I wrote about the awesome Trek America event I went along to, ceelbrating the debut of their VR films of various National Parks. It was absolutely amazing, and left me full of inspiration and ideas for my own travels stateside. I love going to the US, whether it's to catch up with friends, to visit family, or to explore. I've been lucky enough to see a lot of the country so far, but am also aware it's so vast I still have a ways to go (14 out of 50 states down has me at just over a quarter of them...).

In this post I'm going to look at five places I've loved, and which I'd like to visit again, and another five I'm chomping at the bit to get to!

Five places in the US I've loved and I want to visit again

1. New York

Matthew and I went to NYC for the first time last year and had such fun exploring the city. Even coming from a big city like London, the hustle and bustle is like nothing else. We saw a lot of Manhattan, but I'd love to go back and see more sights, as well as taken trips out to other areas such as Harlem and Brooklyn.

2. North Carolina

I visited NC a couple of times in the noughties while my friend Amber was studying for her PhD at UNC-Chapel Hill. It's such a beautiful part of the world, and one I'd love to revisit. I have fond memories of the beautiful UNC campus, the rolling, green hills, and the amazing Mexican food to be found here, there and everywhere.

3. Las Vegas

I was never expecting to love Vegas as I do, but I really do. When we visit, we resort hard, and it's truly a place where Matthew and I both unwind and relax. It's so lovely to spend time together in what is pretty much a grown-ups playground, surrounded by amazing restaraunts and bars, fantastic entertainment, and some of the finest people-watching opportunites on the planet. I can't wait to go back.

4. Hawaii

Hawaii has my heart entirely. Our visit there in 2015 was the stuff of dreams, and I'm unreserved in my adoration for the islands. I cannot wait till we have the time and the budget to return to Kauai!

5. Nashville

I spent a couple of days here visiting family...as a country music fan I clearly need to return and do the place in style!

Five places in the US I want to visit

1. San Francisco

At times it can feel like half my facebook feed is in San Fran, but I've yet to go. I'd love to explore a city I've experience so much in TV, books and films.

2. Memphis

Along with Nashville, my inner music fan needs to visit here (Shona and I are planning to do it with Dollywood thrown in for good measure!). I feel a road trip coming on!

3. Chicago

Every single one of my friends who has visited says Chicago is the most awesome city, so clearly it will have to go on the list.

4. Los Angeles

I think LA and San Francisco would work well together for a Cali visit. I'd be such a movie geek in the City of Angels and would have such fun scoping out where different thinsg had been filmed.

5. Alaska

I'd love to take a trip up to Alaska, to to see the rugged and wild Arctic north. From the mountains to the snow to the wildlife to the people. I think it would be just fascinating!

Where in the US have you travelled and loved? Where would you love to visit?

  1. I don't think I've been anywhere in the US I've not loved - New York, San Fran, LA, Vegas, Miami, Boston and Philadelphia. I went to a lot of them when I was younger though so want to go back and so them again. I'd love to try Hawaii too! x

Thank you for your comment - I do read them all but it may take me a little while (a couple of days) to respond during busy times. I love reading what you have to say!

Have a wonderful day!
