The joy of brainache….

Oh man, it’s been one of those days. You know one of those days where you think “OK, it’s time to write. Yep, let’s get our post on. Hurrah, let’s just wap out a few hundred words and then woohoo, it’s blogtastic!” And then?

I cannot write stuff with a goat, I cannot write stuff in a boat, I cannot write stuff round a moat.

I cannot write stuff in a bed, I cannot write stuff sewn in thread, I cannot write….my brain is dead.

In other words, it’s been a day of procrastination and vacillation. Of fidgeting and fiddling and snacking and drinking coffee and basically behaving like a seven year old with ants in her pants.

I blame the early morning driving lesson – 2 hours, starting a little after seven, of reverse parking and parallel parking and gear changes. My poor brain thought it was getting a lie-in as sis was out of town overnight but no, we were up before the daylight arrived….welcome to the north!

Met up with The Bav and little O yesterday, good chat as always, but I am amazed at how big he’s growing. I always find it pretty fascinating though, looking at him and think wooooooaaaah, my friend made you. Amazing.

It’s interesting that is was today I seemed to get writer’s block – just last night I was thinking I should send some submissions hither and thither. It has been years since I wrote something more taxing than a blog or a letter, but I’d love to get back into it. I love writing pop culture stuff, lifestyle stuff, reviews and comment….I just think it’s amazing how words can reach people. I also love writing fiction and poetry, and I think over this long and damp British winter I might try and get back into a groove. I also want to start working on lyrics again – I used to have books and books of the darn things, but it’s a skill I’ve neglected recently! Any musicians out there, if you’ve got a tune that needs some lyrics, hook a girl up….I’m dying to get back into it.

So, to summate: I want to write more. But can’t seem to today.

Ain’t life grand?

Have a lovely and languid one!

I have had those days of staring at my blog- thinking “what shall I write about?”I usually just let the day slip by with nothing much to say- I can understand the frustration because I love to write as well..Hope your day is great!:)

I always listen to music when I get writers’ block. It doesn’t help me begin writing, but it gets my blood flowing!Listening to Richard Thompson right now…I think you ought to consider farming out your talents. Writing-wise, that is. Keep us posted (so to speak).

that is why i always have long periods of time between my postings. I always feel i want to, but then I have nothing. And the Dr. Seuss allusion was nothing short of genius!

Hi ClaireCame to your blog through Pea’s blog. How about a shot at Novel writing? A lot of us are taking the Nanowrimo 2006 challenge to write 50,000 words in 30 days. I’m a non-fiction writer myself and don’t really dig writing stories, but am giving it a shot(might end up writing my non-fiction book anyway!.Take a look at http://www.Nanowrimo.orgI also recommend if you want to get writing again. There’s lots of support, friendly advice, market listings etc. A great place to start in earnest.See you around!

LOLOL I think that waffleing on and on is good sometimes and then before you know it you have hit the waffleing wall and all that is left is a sticky goo that was once a waffle.See how easy it is to waffle ^^^^^ I could waffle a little more just like I am doing now and then I realise that I have waffled enough but then I see another blank space that needs to be filled with something and then I look back to a few words before THIS one and realise that the space was filled and then I can go on with the rest of my day knowing that I waffled sufficiently to fill in a gap 😀

Everybody goes through writer’s blocks. Step away, go for a walk, take in some fresh air, and you’ll be surprised how quickly you’ll think of something.

I have moments like these when the motivation is there but it ends up with zero output!
