10 good things.

So, the minifunk continues, along with the seemingly random requisite tearfulness and baking. I’d love just to write it off as time-of-the-month-ness (does that make me a traitor to my sex? ;-)), but alas, it’s not. I just feel a little low, and I think I know why (see yesterday’s post), but hey, what’s the sense in getting all strung out about it? To quote Forrest Gump…”It happens.”

Time to restructure and refocus.

So, instead, ten good things for the start of May (happy May Day, btw!).

Cookies! I spent most of yesterday evening in a frenzy of baking (the analogy with Izzie from Grey’s Anatomy is hugely apt. A stressed Claire is a Claire in the kitchen). Two dozen cookies, a dozen cupcakes and an asparagus-pasta thing, and I was starting to feel a little better. My misery = my colleagues coffee break treats!
Bad dancing! The perfect accompaniment to baking, I always find. I love that I live alone in the country sometimes….my moves are particularly “brilliant” when I’ve had a glass of red, I’m down in the dumps and wearing a “sexy” apron. Such a good look.
Bank Holidays! Those two should combine for muchos fun at the weekend. Hurrah!
Books! I am reading a lot right now (it’s something about the sunshine, I think). I ordered three more books on amazon yesterday, and can’t wait to get into them).
Chickflicks! I had *such* a good cry last night. And what was I watching? Haha, ‘Little Women’. Great film, total guilty pleasure and a weepfest. I’m sure it’s not ideal that I need outside triggers to get things out there, but hey, I’ll take what’s there!
Bright Eyes and Pavement and The Beach Boys and Carole King and KT Tunstall and The Postal Service, oh my! Music is my comfort blanket, y’all!
Friends! The working too hard thing was beginning to tell….but over the next week there is pubbery, drinks, lunch, picnics, dinners….I am eagerly awaiting some good chat!
I’m going to see ‘Wicked’! As her birthday treat, I’m taking Banana to see Wicked in a few weeks. I am uber-excited, I’ve been wanting to see this show forever!
The best thing: Waking up happy! It’s my normal mode, but I’d been out of sync for a bit….This morning I woke up happy and smiley and good. Here’s hoping we’re (well, I’m) back on the up!

So that’s me…perky, if not unrelentingly so. Thinking some big thinks and cooking some delicious treats….tonight? Muffins!

Have a lovely evening all, and enjoy the sunshine :-)!

PS Through the midst of my wallow, this quote came to me: “Only people of a certain disposition are frightened of being alone for the rest of their lives at the age of 26, and we were of that disposition.” I love Nick Hornby!
PPS After an hour and a half of playground duty, I have totally caught the sun. Sunburn = the hilarity!
PPPS It’s exeat weekend on Friday….three and a half days off! There you go, an extra good thing for you :-).
PPPPS Oh, and I have lots of plans to help people. As always, the best way to cheer yourself up….do stuff for others. Hurrah!
