So, I’ve mentioned before that I love to sing in the shower.
Well, this weekend someone asked me what my ‘playlist’ is. After cracking up at the description, I thought it might make a fun post.
So without further ado, here are the ten songs which most frequently make up my singing repertoire (while I’m shampooing and conditioning). This month, at least!
(I couldn’t get the videos to embed, but have provided clicky links…)
‘Maybe This Time‘ from Cabaret
Gosh, but I love this song! So bluesy and angsty! I also love the version they did on Glee, but then, I am a giant Gleek.
‘Defying Gravity‘ from Wicked
I think Wicked is sublime. This and ‘Now That You’re Mine’ just make my soul tingle!
‘Dream A Little Dream Of Me‘ by Mama Cass
Just. So. Pretty.
‘Songbird‘ by Eva Cassidy
One of the most romantic songs I know. Greatly helped by the scenes in Love Actually, I’m sure.
‘Alone‘ by Heart
Yep, another song used on Glee. I swear, it’s like they’ve been eavesdropping. Anyway, I *heart* (hahahaha, unintentional pun!) this song so hard. When I had a car this was prime singalong fodder – I’d love to attempt it (and attempt is definitely the right word, lol) on kareoke one day.
‘Man In The Mirror‘ by Michael Jackson
I’d never really sung this before it got stuck in my head the other day. That was a mistake. It’s a great melody.
‘You Raise Me Up‘ by many, many people (I’ve gone with the lovely Josh Groban and the African Children’s Choir for the link).
I love this song, it’s very special to me. Plus, it had the awesome comedy value that if you pitch that first verse too high, the whole thing is scuppered. Keeps you on your toes!
‘Here I Am To Worship‘ by Hillsong / Michael W Smith.
One of my favourite worship songs ever. I remember hearing it and just loving the lyrics so, so much.
‘Let’s Get It On‘ by Marvin Gaye.
This song is just tremendous fun to sing! You can riff all over the place!
‘You’ve Got A Friend‘ by Carole King.
Just a beautiful song and a beautiful melody.
So that’s my ‘playlist’….what do you sing in the shower, friends?
