Because on Monday I will be heading to my homeland for a few days :-).
I love my adopted hometown of London and the life I have here but I am oh-so-ready to see my family and friends up in the far north – I haven’t seen most of them since last November or last August (November was a flying visit en route to and from a wedding, so apart from some family and the happy couple we saw no-one!). That’s far too long and I’m hoping that now that I am more settled in my work I will be able to pop home more often. It’s 600 miles….but sometimes it feels like the other side of the world!
I can’t wait to drink tea and chat with my mum. To have my dad baffle me with some sort of computery chit chat. To laugh with my brother and be silly with my sister (brilliantly, Sian is heading up for a week and a bit, and it falls around the same time). To snuggle with our bossy old cat!
I’m looking forward to seeing my friends too, and hearing all their news. There is a new baby to meet, new homes to see, a band to catch up with, and (I am sure) absolute buckets full of chat and banter!
I’m also looking forward to time with Matthew – the month since we moved has mainly been him working his socks off and me homemaking and socialising….it’s be great to have some downtime together.
And I get to be in one of my favourite places on earth….near the hills, near the beach, fresh air and clear skies.
Yeah….I’m pretty excited.
