The other evening I walked home from work, and it was just the most beautiful, crisp, windy evening. And as I walked, and breathed in the cool autumn air, and watched the cars go past up the hill, and listened to my iPod, I felt my whole self relax. It was like after a week or two the clouds in my mind had lifted and I finally felt like me again.
I love walking around London in the autumn. The clouds whipping through the sky. The leaves falling down like May blossoms. The air full of smells – coffee, cooking, damp earth. Bundled up against the cold air, watching the people scurrying up the hill to go home, popping into shops to buy dinner and snacks, cheeks ruddy in the chill.
The leaves are just amazing at the moment – red and gold and brown and yellow. I swear, Hampstead could rival most places for autumn colour – no wonder it inspired John Keats so much! I did try to take a photo, but my iPhone was truly not up to the task!
