Linking up with the lovely Lisa-Jo for Five Minute Friday.
Five minutes just to write….and not worry too much about it!
Today’s word….is vivid.
I’ve always had a vivid imagination. When I was little this vivid imagination often took me off on wild flights of fantasy, far, far away, off and out of the classroom window, lost in a mess of daydreams. This recollection always makes me smile whenever I have to remind one of my students not to drift off mid lesson. Dreamers unite.
Now, as I get older, I find that it’s not just the daydreams which are vivid…they’ve been joined by vivid recollections – remembrances of people, places, things. A whiff of fragrance, a song, the way the sunset beams off the windows of the house opposite the synagogue on my way home….they can jump up on me and surprise me, like a frosty breeze on an otherwise mild day.
There are vivid moments in the present too – hands aloft as Dolly Parton returned for the encore in Glasgow I remember turning to Shona and just thinking…wow. This is real, colourful, juicy, exciting life. And it happens so often, moments of laughter, happiness, wonder, sadness, like flecks of light across the milder, matter beams of the everyday.
