Oh summer…

I love London in the sunshine.  The red bricks and skyscrapers contrasting against the blue English skies.  The impulse to dash out the door.  The smell of vinegar on the breeze as people forego cooking for a poke of chips caught on the hoof.  The still sultry evenings, the clink of ice cubes in a glass.  Cars with the roof down, napping in the sunshine, the gentle thwack of tennis balls being hit in the park.

Sure, there are downsides – photocopying in the sunshine is as unromantic as it gets, the tube is mega hot, and dressing smartly and in a way that keeps you cool is very tricky.  But the good far outweighs the bad.

Looking forward to half-term week next week!

I hope to see London in the summer one day.

I love London in the summertime too. So many of the people seem more relaxed and in less of a rush.

Such lovely writing in this post. Fabulous. The photocopiers at our school are by a big set of windows overlooking a park. Sometimes it's torture as I stand there waiting for my copies and staring out at children and dogs playing, and other lounging in the sun. I yearn to be among them, but alas, I am chained to the photocopier. (And then it will jam and take me away from any reverie.)
