Back to school….

My first day of school!

And just like that, summer is over.  The long lazy days of wine with friends, playing with kittens and wearing PJs as an outfit choice are behind, and the autumn is around the corner.

I’ve been in school this week, working on displays, tidying, photocopying, but from Monday the real work begins.  Two days of meetings, and then?  My eighth form ever arrive.  I cannot believe that this is my eighth year of teaching.  The time really has flown!

I’m excited, and nervous, as ever.  September is always a giant shock to the system, but I hope I’ve prepared enough to get through it without too much stress and with the kids enjoying themselves and settling well.  I’m excited to meet my form and my Year 5 and 6 classes and to get started with the business of learning!

Even though it’s stressful, I always enjoy the start of something new.  Did you enjoy the start of school when you were growing up?  And if you’re a teacher, do you enjoy it now?

I'm not a teacher but I do approach the new year in September/October with a mix of excitement and fear! We always have so much to do before term starts, and though it always gets done it is always a struggle. This year expectations will be particularly high too, and I'm starting to study as well so time will tell how manic it will be!
