Whether it’s a meal and a movie with Hannah or a glass of wine and The Apprentice with Shona, it’s been lovely to catch up with friends who I haven’t seen in a while. Plans with other friends are in the diary too – after a travel heavy September and early-October, it’s nice to be back in the London loop.
2. Cold weather
I love it. I swear my outfits are 75% cuter once the mercury drops! I’m loving chilly mornings, curling up with a cup of tea after a bracing walk, and breaking out the slow cooker. Vehemently on board.
3. Brunch with Bangarang
Yesterday I met up with Katy, Jasmin, Charley and Emma for a good old catch up over brunch. We went to Drake & Morgan, which I’d been so excited to try. Given the pricing and the reputation I’d expected wonders…instead it was the very definition of….okay. Not bad by any means, but not somewhere I’ll be rushing back to either.
Luckily the company was excellent and I very much enjoyed catching up with the ladies and hearing all their news. So lucky to have such wonderful blog friends here in town!
In holiday mode I was reading less, and it took me a little while to get back into the groove. Yesterday after brunch I curled up and devoured the first half of The Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes, and I’m back in the reading zone! Which is lucky, because last week brought some very fun book post…
Full posts will follow, of course, but our little two day trip to Amsterdam was a delight. We toured the canals, stayed in a lovely hotel, went to the Heineken Brewery (and met the horses!) and toured the Rijksmuseum. A really lovely, chill city break.
6. Early nights, early mornings
Am loving getting my body clock back to normal. I love being up with the lark (although calming down my inner night owl takes more effort).
Growing up I’d always loved flying (hey, RAF brat, right?), but a few years back I had a real period of worry and fear when it came to flying. Over the last couple of years this has subsided hugely and I’m back to enjoying the experience! The BA hopper flights between London City and Amsterdam are such fun and so speedy. Love being up amongst the clouds.
8. Time to think
This past year has truly been a journey. It’s been lovely to have lots of little pockets of time recently to have a good long think and to make a few decisions.
9. Gift vouchers
I love using a gift voucher now and then, and I’m good about banking them for future use. Sometimes it’s a little Friday treat, like the chouxnut I got from Selfridges on Friday (so good!), sometimes it’s working out that we can afford a few little extra treats for friends and family come Christmas.
Yeah, Poppet-cat has the correct idea. So cosy!
I hope you all have a super week!
